Investment Adviser
Saturna Capital Corporation, Bellingham, WA, is the investment adviser and administrator for the Sextant Mutual Funds. Saturna Capital’s discount brokerage subsidiary, Saturna Brokerage Services, acts as distributor.
The Sextant Funds’ trustees selected Saturna Capital, a seasoned investment firm of industry professionals, to conduct the Sextant Funds’ investments and operations. Saturna manages nine mutual funds in two fund groups, pooled investment partnerships, and privately managed accounts.

Saturna Investment Trust, of which the Sextant Funds are series, is managed by a Board of Trustees that includes business owners and prominent members of the community:

Portfolio Managers
Nicholas Kaiser, MBA, CFA, chairman of Saturna Capital, manages the Sextant Growth and Sextant International Funds. With more than 30 years of experience running mutual funds, Mr. Kaiser is an award winning portfolio manager who consistently puts his clients first. Mr. Kaiser graduated from Yale College, with a degree in economics and obtained his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1968, with dual majors in International Economics and Finance.
Mr. Kaiser established the Kaiser Professorship in International Business at Western Washington University and his industry activities include past service with the Investment Company Institute, CFA Institute, Financial Planning Association, and No-Load Mutual Fund Association.

Peter Nielsen, senior investment analyst & Sextant Core Fund portfolio manager, joined Saturna Capital in June 2007. He is the portfolio manager for Sextant Core Fund. Born in 1964 in British Columbia, he graduated from Trinity Western University with a degree in Business Administration and earned an MBA from Simon Fraser University. A Chartered Financial Analyst, Mr. Nielsen worked for BC Investment Management Corporation and Aquilini Investments before coming to Bellingham.

Phelps McIlvaine, vice president and manager of the Sextant Short-Term Bond and Sextant Bond Income Funds, joined Saturna Capital in 1993. He also acts as Chief Financial Officer for Saturna’s wholly-owned brokerage subsidiary, Saturna Brokerage Services. Mr. McIlvaine was born in Illinois in 1953, and has a BA in economics (University of Denver, 1975 Phi Beta Kappa).
Mr. McIlvaine entered the investment business in 1976 and traded U.S. bond and derivative markets from 1977 to 1986 for commercial banks in Boston and Chicago. From 1987 to 1993 he managed fixed-income derivative hedge funds in Chicago and London. He serves on the Endowment Committees of the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association, The Bellingham Interfaith Coalition, and the First Congregational Church of Bellingham.
